Self-Love is incredibly powerful. It’s one of the most important things to have to be happy. We’re all going to live with ourselves our whole lives. If we don’t love ourselves it will be hard to find happiness.
Increasing your self-love can be life-changing. A simple way to do that is journaling. Picking up a notebook and writing can be liberating.
You may think of journaling as something you did when you were young. Writing in your diary about your day or current school crush. We’re talking about a different kind of journaling here. You go a bit deeper.
Journaling can be done in different ways. Some people like to free-write whatever is weighing on them. Or you can journal with intention. That’s what we recommend to boost your self-love. Journal with self-love as your intention.
The way to do it is by giving yourself prompts related to self-love. Then, simply write about what the prompt tells you to. This way you’ll have some direction towards what your goal with journaling is.
Journaling can be very beneficial. It’s a safe space to be with your thoughts. To express yourself without judgment, without eyes looking in.
Whenever I journal it feels like the words flow out of me. Without any effort. Without the need to put my thoughts together in a way others understand. Sometimes you write things you didn’t even know you felt. Like your feelings have a mind of their own. You can find out a lot about yourself through journaling.
It’s a great way to build self-love because you’ll find ways to appreciate yourself. Things you might have never thought about. It’ll also help you be more mindful. By sitting and having to analyze yourself, you’ll HAVE to be more mindful of yourself. Of what you love about yourself. And whatever the prompts steer you towards.
These prompts are for that exactly. To guide you. To crack the surface and go deeper into yourself. We’ve created these 10 prompts to help you connect with yourself. They’re focused on self-love. To help you find it or increase it.
WRITE ABOUT WHAT SELF-LOVE MEANS TO YOU

WRITE 5 THINGS YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR PHYISICAL SELF
Our physical appearance may not be the most important thing about ourselves. But, it can be the subject of severe insecurities for some people. Our bodies allow our souls to experience life. And, we’re going to live in our physical body our whole lives. We shouldn’t live at war with it. We should learn to respect and appreciate it. Start giving it some love by writing things you love about it.
WRITE 5 THINGS YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY
Like our last prompt, this is a great prompt to start building self-love. It will force you to really analyze yourself. To think deeply about which traits of yours you love. Try to not write the first thing that comes to mind. Or the things people always say about you. Take time to think about it, then write.
MY BIGGEST STRENGTHS ARE:
This prompt is so important. Being aware of your strengths is empowering. Not only will it help to know them for your everyday life. It will be a reminder that you’re very valuable. That you have the power to get through life by leaning on your strengths.
WRITE ABOUT WHICH ASPECTS OF YOURSELF YOU THINK YOU COULD IMPROVE
Self-love isn’t about thinking you’re perfect. It doesn’t mean you have to LOVE everything about yourself. That’s a fake view of self-love. Nobody is perfect. It’s impossible to love everything about yourself. It’s not even healthy, it’s good to be aware that we all have weaknesses. If you know yours, you can work on improving them & on accepting yourself.
DESCRIBE WHAT YOU ADMIRE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF
I think saying you admire someone is one of the biggest compliments. And who should admire us more than ourselves?. We should all be our own cheerleaders. Dive deep into yourself. Whether you admire how you live your life, how you treat others, or your work ethic. Whatever it is.
This prompt may seem hard. Try to answer for yourself. But, if you get stuck, it’s okay to ask. Sometimes the people we love see us more clearly than we see ourselves.
I FORGIVE MYSELF FOR...
Regrets and guilt can weigh so heavy they tear us down. It’s hard to practice self-love if you’re hating yourself for something you did in the past. We all make mistakes and have things we regret. But, we can’t go back in time. We can only take those mistakes as lessons.
Think of anything that you might be blaming yourself for. If you think there’s nothing, think again. It may be buried in your subconscious. Forgiving yourself, letting go of hate is the first step to self-love.
WRITE ABOUT THE QUALITIES YOU’D LIKE TO HAVE AND HOW YOU CAN WORK TOWARDS BEING MORE LIKE THAT
Self-love is definitely linked to self-acceptance. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t improve yourself.
If you love yourself, you work to be your best version. Because you know you deserve to feel your best. You know you’re worth focusing on. You understand your value & potential.
To work on being your best version. You need to know what that looks like first. The qualities that person would have.
DESCRIBE AN OBSTACLE OR HARDSHIP YOU’VE ENCOUNTERED AND HOW YOU OVERCAME IT

When you’re writing this prompt. Think about when you feel your best. When you feel like your most loved and beautiful self. Keep that in mind when writing.
Taking your self-love journey into your own hands may seem hard.
Maybe you feel like you can’t find enough appreciation for yourself to answer some of these. Or you can’t think of a single thing you love about yourself.
Don’t worry if you can’t do that now. Don’t think you’re doomed for a life of self-deprecation.
A lot of people have a hard time thinking of things they love about themselves. We tend to live so connected to the outside world. But so disconnected from ourselves.
It’s why we’re sharing these prompts. To encourage you to give yourself time. Time to focus on yourself. To find the deep love for yourself that lives inside you and is waiting to come out.
Journal alone. Make it your time to connect to who you are.
I guarantee there is so much to love about you. You’re simply not conscious of it. If the prompts feel hard for now, it’s okay to ask for input from someone you love. Someone who understands you. They may help you see yourself through kinder eyes.
When you’re done, we recommend you go back to what you wrote. To keep it in mind.
Continue to journal about your self-love journey. Whenever you think of something nice about yourself, write it down. Don’t forget.
